About Our CHildren's Programs

I believe that physical activity is essential for the growth and development of children and youth. Through tailored training programs, I aim to improve their strength, endurance, agility, and coordination, enabling them to excel in their chosen sports. I also strongly believe that relationship building is such an important part of the coach-athlete dynamic. Creating a comfortable environment for a young athlete, who may be unsure of the skills, is such an important part of skill development.  There are a few different types of programs I specialize in:

Fundamental Movements

Children are not born with the skills to run, jump, or throw with proper form. These are skills that need practice like anything else. And the best time to do this is when they are young. Giving children the basics of these skills can be very handy for when they start to embark on the world of sports. My program with the RDN; Kick Start Sports, is developed to work on these very things, the basics basics of running, jumping and throwing.

Intro to - Sport Programs

Choosing a sport for a child is hard to do. Sometimes they just need an opportunity to try something out without a large commitment. I am currently running Basketball and Football Programs through the RDN with a focus on the very basic skills needed to play those sports. This gives children an opportunity to try out a sport, with other kids in the same boat. I will be doing this with other sports as well. If there is a sport program that you think is needed, let me know and we will see if we can make it happen.
 

Sport Specific Off Season/In season Training.

Is your child’s preferred sport in the offseason? Are they having a hard time finding activities to keep them active? Contact me about off season training. We can develop a program for small group classes or One on One. It can be sport specific or just general fitness to keep them in shape until their preferred Sport picks up again. Off Season training can be a huge help to ensure when their sport starts again, their fitness has remained or improved, and can give them a leg up on their peers or competition.

After School GYM

Join coach Burns for games, sports and active free play in the gym with friends. All grades welcome. Link below to register.

Sports Mixer (Ages 6-10)

This multi-sport program introduces kids to football, basketball, baseball and soccer. Through games and activities, kids will learn physical movement skills they can use in all sports. There are two upcoming sessions: Sept 20 – October 25 and November 1 to December 6. Links below to register.

Kick Start Sports ( Ages 5 -7)

Each week children will run, jump and play while learning fundamental movement skills that build confidence to participate in all sports.This is the perfect program for team sport introduction. The movements taught are transferable to most sports you child will play in the future. There are two upcoming sessions: Sept 20 – October 25 and November 1 to December 6. Links below to register.

First Down Football

Huddle up it is game time. Players will get familiar with football skills such as passing, catching, running and kicking. All abilities are welcome.

Basketball 101

With a focus on teamwork and having fun players will be introduced to the basic skills for shooting, dribbling and passing.
